The Mattawan Wildcat Road and Trail 5K is a run/walk event on the streets and trails of Mattawan, MI. Our course starts off on the high school track then onto the streets of Mattawan. From there you drop in on the grass practice fields which will take you to the entrance of the CC trails behind the school. Gravel, stones, sand, mud...just what all trail running should include. Once you're through the trail section you'll find yourself back onto the streets of Mattawan and before you know it you're dropping the hammer on the track for the finish line.
All of the proceeds earned from the race are donated to the Mattawan Public Education Foundation (MPEF). The MPEF is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Mattawan Schools and enriching education. Their mission is accomplished through the awarding of a wide variety of grants. These include Creative Instruction Awards, given to teachers who submit innovative, fresh program ideas for their classrooms. MPEF grants also support staff professional development, school safety, citizenship, literacy, college scholarships and more.
MPEF’s mission is to strengthen the community through funding unique educational opportunities, helping students be “brain strong”. Our vision is that all children realize their dreams, and become caring and involved citizens, and that the community values education as its number one resource.
Since 1992, MPEF has continually grown through its volunteers and the community, each providing funding to impact virtually every student in our school system through innovative programs. MPEF has distributed more than $490,000 through scholarships, grants, and awards since its founding.
